I can't help but feel like I've been cheated by life by getting my dad's bad skin genes. My younger sisters, both in high school, have flawless skin. My two older sisters had the ocasional zit every few months, but nothing that ever left a scar or hole in their skin. I am the middle child of 5 (total) sisters, who all have nearly perfect skin, free of scars. Any redditors try or know someone with other cheaper alternatives that have actually helped? The scars make me extremely self conscious and I hate myself so much for it. When I went to see many, many dermatologists when I was 15-18, they always reassured me these scars would go away within a year.but flash forward 7 years.and I am still cripped emotionally/mentally by these hideous scars.
I went for a consultation and the dermatologist/surgeon told me my only option to get rid of these hideous scars is laser surgery. I'm already in huge debt from attending a private college and am only making minimum wage, working 15 hours a week which goes to food and rent. I don't have the luxury or any means to pay 6,000$ for laser surgery to get my scars (they look like holes, indentations in my skin) taken care of by a surgeon.
I'm a poor college kid who has dealt with acne/acne scars from the time I was 13 to now, 23 years old. Thanks! I'm a bit busy with studying for an exam, so I'll try to respond to everyone when I can. But I'm going to start with some of your suggestions (the cheaper ones first) and go from there. and I suppose the lighting I was under doesn't really show how bad it is. I do think it looks worse in real life, person-to-person. But I feel like they're just being family and have to say that. People (well, my parents and sibs) have told me it isn't that bad as well.
